Aquatic ecosystem condition reports

The EPA monitors South Australian waterways (coastal, lakes and creeks) in order to assess their condition and provide information that can be used to guide management decisions.

Monitoring data are used to produce aquatic ecosystem condition reports every year. These reports are currently available for creeks and lakes. Reports for nearshore marine waters are currently being developed..

The EPA has released a context and overview report (416.7 KB PDF) which outlines the main reasons why it needs to assess aquatic ecosystems, reviews the equivalent approaches adopted elsewhere and proposes a way forward which covers all natural waters in South Australia using the aquatic ecosystem monitoring, evaluation and reporting program.
