The Broad Palmed frog is characterised by a pointed snout, broad head stripes, long legs and a first finger that is usually longer than the second.

This frog is pale grey or brown and may have some indistinct darker blotches and a few small warts.The frog's skin underneath is white and granular. Its smooth throat is pigmented in breeding males and the lower jaw is checked with black and white. It also has a black head stripe from the nostral to the eye and then past the tympanum (ear) to the shoulder. The thighs have a network of irregular black patches on a yellow background. The fingers and toes are long, ending in very small discs and are not webbed.

Size: Males 29-39 mm; Females 36-42 mm.

Habitat: Found near semi-permanent water such as pools and billabongs in or near open forest.

Breeding: Between spring when rainfall coincides with high temperatures and the end of summer. Males call from the edge of water or damp areas near water. Loose clumps of eggs are deposited amongst vegetation in shallow water. Tadpoles are about 35 mm long.

Advertisement call: Builds up slowly and irregularly to a rapid 'duck like quacking'.
