Main’s Frog is limited to the extreme north west of South Australia and is found in some of the driest parts of the State. It is a burrowing frog which spends much of its time underground conserving water. As a result it is rarely encountered except after rains when they emerged in large numbers to breed. Its skin is usually smooth or slightly warty and may vary from pale brown to dull green in colour.
