Common Name: Mayfly

The Hindmarsh River, near the Hindmarsh Weir is one of the most diverse sites in South Australia with more than 170 aquatic invertebrates collected from this site between 1994 and 2004. Many of these requiring the cool, flowing water and rocky substrate present at this site.

The mayfly Atalophlebia is one invertebrate that likes the cool flowing water and can be found clinging to the underside of cobbles in the Hindmarsh River.
