EPA Landfill Guidelines have been the subject of extended consultation
and discussion by the EPA with all stakeholders within the waste
industry. The Landfill Guidelines have now been consolidated into
a single document, including a staged Implementation Plan.
The Environment Protection Authority Board has sent the Guidelines
to all key stakeholders, including local councils and businesses
within the waste industry, for an opportunity for final comment.

In response to community concern, the Environment Protection Authority undertook air quality monitoring, an odour survey and an audit of 15 sites licensed by the EPA in the Kilburn and Gepps Cross area during 2005 and 2006. The project has helped to identify potential areas for improved performance by local industry that may reduce impacts on the local environment.
