The EPA has designed a new licence fee structure in consultation
with industry and the community. The new fee structure is based
on 'user pays' and 'polluter pays' principles, where licence fees
reflect the EPA's regulatory effort as well as the amount and
type of pollutants discharged to the environment. The fee structure
also provides an incentive for water re-use.
Invoices based on the new fee structure will be issued commencing
in June 2008, and will apply to licences with a renewal or anniversary
date on or after 1 July 2008.
The fee structure has been finalised and drafting of the changes
to the Environment Protection (Fees and Levy) Regulations is in
progress. The fee structure is provided here to provide licensees
with time to budget for the changes.
