The Light River at Mingay's Waterhole has a reasonably diverse
macroinvertebrate community with more than 120 invertebrates being
collected between 1994 and 2004. Many of these commonly occur
throughout the State.
The amphipod family Eusiridae can be found in abundance in the
Light River. These crustaceans are often found in the slow-flowing
or still sections of brackish streams.
