Chlorophyll (a), an indicator of algae, is usually classified
as moderate at Moana Beach. This is probably due to the effect
of fertilisers or animal wastes being washed off rural land during
storms and runoff from roads.
Heavy metals were classified as poor due to on every high concentration
of zinc in February. Heavy metals are likely to be due to urban
runoff containing heavy metals washed off roads and galvanised
iron roofs. Previously heavy metal have been classified as good.
