Since the introduction of the NPi, the SA NPi Team
has been gradually increasing the number of facilities reporting
to the NPi. In 2005-2006, the team submitted 403 industry
reports to the NPi database. The team expects the number to continue
increasing in the next reporting period.
The focus of the SA NPi Team will be to ensure the quality
and reliability of the reported data through desktop auditing,
scheduled site visits, and on-site audits of facilities.
In 2007 the NPi Team will target non-reporting facilities,
concentrating on EPA-licensed facilities that are likely to exceed
NPi thresholds.
The team also intends to focus on developing tools to assist industries
with reporting and to improve the current emission estimation
techniques.
