Petrol station licensing
From 1 January 2020, petrol stations have been added to the list of activities of environmental significance requiring an authorisation in the form of a licence.
In 2019, the EPA engaged with a reference group comprising petrol station associations and groups on the structure of the licence fee system and setting licence conditions.
Following consultation, it has been agreed that standard licence conditions will apply to all petrol stations. The EPA wrote to petrol stations to advise of the new licensing requirements.
