Guidance materials detailing emission techniques specific to each industry are available. Electronic emissions estimation calculation tools are integrated into the Online Reporting System and are available for specific activities.
The legislative framework underpinning the NPI is the National Environment Protection (National Pollutant Inventory) Measure (NPI NEPM). A copy of the NPI NEPM is available from the Environment Protection and Heritage Council (EPHC) website.
The state legislation, the Environment Protection (National Pollutant Inventory) Policy has been updated to include mandatory provisions. Penalties can now be applied in South Australia if a NPI report is not submitted, submitted late or does not contain the required information.
