Construction noise
Some activities on construction sites are noisy. Although some noise may be unavoidable, it can often be controlled using improved work practices.
A large majority of noise from construction sites are regulated under the Local Nuisance and Litter Control Act 2016. It is recommended that construction site operators to limit noisy activities to between 7 am and 7 pm, Monday to Saturday. Some grounds may exist for construction work to occur outside these hours if consent is given and procedures followed. Contact your council for further information.
The EPA is responsible for managing construction noise at sites where an authorisation to conduct an activity of environmental significance applies. You can find out if a site has an environmental authorsation.
