Ethelton
The EPA has been undertaking environmental assessment work in Ethelton since December 2020.
The work has been investigating groundwater contamination associated with a former dry cleaning site, to determine whether this may be a risk to residents.
Based on the groundwater and soil vapour data, indoor air contamination (if any) is considered to be safe.
The most recent Stage 2 work also shows that the groundwater contamination does not extend beyond the assessment area boundary.
Further monitoring of soil vapour and groundwater in the streets around the former dry cleaner site will be undertaken in 2023.
At the conclusion of its environmental assessments the EPA is likely to recommend that a Groundwater Prohibition Area be established.
